Top Drawer in Sydney

The sprint champs were the second day of a sprint double header in Sydney.  Big Foot had organised the annual Big Foot Sprints which, this year, were held at Sydney University.  The Big Foot Sprints were very well attended and the Sydney University Map was simply outstanding.

In addition, we got to share the University grounds with 280 people participating in a "Humans versus Zombies" games where the humans had to shoot the zombies - this must be a first for orienteering.  Some competitors were assumed to be humans and others (no names) were mistaken as zombies and were shot with the nerf guns.  This was not allowed as an excuse for slower times or missing controls but added a welcome additional navigational hazard.  Full results and photos.

Summer Series - The annual "sydney summer series" has started up again.  Interestingly, just as the series started in early October, summer actually arrived early to match the start of the orienteering season.  This week sees 2 events.  Firstly, there is a Western series event at Glenwood on Monday evening.  Secondly, on the traditional Wednesday evening event is at a Garingal classic - Lavender Bay.  So you can check out the sites around the harbour at North Sydney including Luna Park.  It should be another ripping week.
