First Timers flock to Westleigh

westleigh mapSaturday 11 April at Westleigh: Despite overnight showers, the weather at Westleigh for the Saturday morning event was sunny and cool: great running conditions.

The event was advertised as part of the Hornsby Healthy Living Festival and recorded a total of  58 entries, plus four entrants/groups backing up for another course.   About half the entries came from club members, and the other half were newcomers, most of whom were in groups or families.    Total participation exceeded 100.

Melissa Annetts set the courses, which were complimented by many first timers.     Father Peter did the leg work putting out the distant controls.

Barbara Hill ran a coaching session for first timers with Jamie Kennedy, and Liz and John Bulman assisting.    Johnny Petersen manned the finish computer.

In general, it was a very good day and we received plenty of positive reactions from first timers.   Hopefully these first timers will be back soon to try another event.
