Equipment report

Duffys Forest, May 2017 - busybeez

A lovely Saturday afternoon (22nd May) saw 8 Garingal members gather at the Christmas Tree Farm big shed to spend the afternoon working on checking and preparing our club's equipment for the forthcoming Australian Orienteering Carnival (23rd Sept to 1st Oct).

We completed the task of renewing all the club’s control stands thanks to the great work done by Carol and Ken Jacobson, Karin Hefftner, Ross Duker, Colin Burnett and Di, and Jim Forbes.  Time did not allow to do more.  As darkness fell we retired to drinks and a BBQ meal.    Another working bee will be required before the Carnival.

Jewel in the Crown

Milson Island. January 2017 - Over 40 enthusiastic orienteers visited Milsons Island last Saturday the 21st.  Starting with a short ferry trip from the mainland to the island.

Ferry Ride

Tony Hill went the self-propelled way of canoeing across the strait.

Then the fun began.  Tennis anyone, basketball, large chess games, BBQs and swimming pool.  However the main event was the orienteering over the island with the coarse been set by Atte.  Wonderful rock formations and with many buildings making challenging courses.  In fact there were 3 courses easy, medium and hard.  No times were recorded, no SI, just trust as it was a friendly banter.  After the runs everyone relaxed enjoying a swim, tennis etc.

at the pool

A place for everyone to go to, many expressed interest to stay longer but 4pm soon arrived so it was time depart.

Thanks to all participants for a great day out.

New Years Resolutions

Sydney, Sunday 01 January 2017 - Dear Garingal Members

Thanks for a great 2016  where we achieved **NSW Club of the Year** in recognition of our contribution to the quantity and quality of events made available for all our enjoyment.  This was only made possible by You volunteering to perform the many tasks needed to host successful O-events.

Looking at 2017 we have an extremely busy schedule so we ask you to please consider including all or some of the following in your list of New Year's Resolutions:

1 -  Renew my membership of Garingal.

2 -  Volunteer for the Helpers Roster (send a mail to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ).

3 -  Volunteer as Setter, Planner or Organiser of an event (send a mail to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ).

There is plenty of assistance at hand for First-Timers, just ask.

4 -  Register for the Social events listed as Club Activities in Eventor

5 -  Attend as many events as I possibly can; certainly more than last year,

and absolutely Must Do the Australian O Carnival at Bathurst/Hill End.

Best wishes for a successful new year.NewYear
