Green and Gold at Canyonleigh

It was an entertaining Saturday evening as the juniors from St Ives North School camped under a magnificent display of stars at the Belanglo hut.  The St Ives North juniors were recruited by the Garingal club. There was a large number of orienteers from various clubs staying in the grounds overnight.   After a visit to the nearby Sutton Forest hotel for dinner, the camp fire at the Belanglo hut was the place to be.  The TV in the hut enabled a quick check on the 2 gold Olympic gold medals as they came through!

On Sunday morning, the juniors managed to venture from their tents and join the rest of the crew at nearby Canyonleigh for the annual NSW Schools Championship.  The St Ives North team, dressed in green, had 7 representatives in the M9A, W9A, M10A and M11A divisions.  The boys and girls ran extremely well with it being the first outing in the real bush for many in the team.  The team was rewarded with 2nd placing in the primary schools division.  The overall schools results can be found here.
