The 3rd round of the 2010 National Orienteering League was held over the weekend.
The first event was a sprint orienteering course at Macquarie University on Saturday morning. FINAL RESULTS are now available.
There was a very large turnout with the national elite orienteers flying in from interstate and New Zealand for the event as well as a large contingent of juniors entered in the Sydney Junior League. There was also a school cross country carnival on at the same time to make things a bit more interesting. The Garingal highlights of the Macquarie University event were the fast times achieved by new junior members Duncan Currie and Carla Burnett. Duncan completed the green course in just over 11 minutes to win the event from 40 plus much older competitors. Carla won the junior girls sprint against a more experienced field. Thanks to James Lithgow (organiser), Warwick Selby (Setter) and Ron Junghans (Controller) for running the event. Thanks also to Macquarie University for allowing us to use their wonderful premises for the event. |
